Health: Trust, Authority and Reputation in a sensitive environment
In any AI visibility strategy, authority matters. But in healthcare, it takes on a different way. It is not enough for an organisation to be visible, recognisable or active online. To be part of a credible response, it must be perceived as a reliable, legitimate and responsible source. This distinction is crucial because health information can influence perceptions, expectations, decisions or behaviours relating to people’s wellbeing. AI systems do not remove this requirement. They amplify it. When a response incorporates information about a medical condition, a biomedical innovation, an active ingredient, a healthcare technology, a pharmaceutical company, a scientific society or a public health campaign, the user receives that information as part of a seemingly objective summary.
If the source is inaccurate, overly promotional or taken out of context, the risk is not just to search engine rankings. It is a reputational risk. That is why, in healthcare, the question should not simply be how to appear in AI environments, but under what conditions it makes sense to appear.
We take a closer look at the specific characteristics of the healthcare sector and the variables that influence its positioning and reputation in the age of AI.

The search no longer ends with a single click: from traffic to influence
For years we have focused on gaining visibility in search engines, achieve rankings, attract traffic and turn visits into opportunities. That work is still necessary, but it no longer explains everything. A new layer has emerged between the user and the source: generative systems that interpret, synthesise and present answers before the user reaches a website, if they reach it at all. The question is no longer just how to appear on Google. It is how to make AI systems correctly understand who an organisation is, which topics it has authority on, which sources validate its role, and in which contexts it deserves to be part of an answer.
At BERBĒS we analyse how traffic is ceasing to be the only indicator of visibility, and the growing importance of the interplay between content, brand, reputation, external authority and artificial intelligence systems.
We invite you to read this document to learn more about the new logic of visibility and reputation in the age of AI.
